Unfortunately, I received an e-mail this morning regarding possible volunteer work at Battersea. As Battersea provide a lot of training to their volunteers, they ask as a minimum 6 months commitment in return. Many of the dogs in their care are not suitable for interaction with people who have not undergone the sufficient training, and therefore cannot provide short-term volunteer opportunities.
On the other hand, they have provided me with a list of animal welfare organisations that recruit volunteers, including:
Cats’ Protection
Dogs’ Trust
Celia Hammond Trust
Various City Farms including Vauxhall and Hackney
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People
Mayhew Animal Home
Pets As Therapy
PDSA
RSPCA
The Blue Cross
Wood Green Animal Shelter
Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre
I will take this new information on board and begin enquiries to the relevant contacts.
